Schools

Education, Education, Education – A rallying cry that has sounded around the world. These words may ring hollow through repetition but we know that Nelson Mandela was right when he said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Since 2002, our schools in Kosele have provided high-quality, Christ-centred education to children who might otherwise face significant barriers to learning. Today, 270 learners are enrolled across our Early Childhood Development (ECD) School, Primary School, and Junior Secondary School, each following the Kenyan Government Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Our goal is not only academic challenge and achievement, but the nurturing of character, purpose, and hope.

Education cannot flourish where hunger exists. That is why every learner receives a free, nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch each school day. These meals support healthy growth, improve concentration, and enable children to fully engage in learning. For many families, this provision also eases financial pressure and ensures their children can attend school consistently.

Our schools are staffed by qualified Kenyan teachers who are deeply committed to their students and their community. We invest significantly in ongoing professional development, equipping our teachers with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to deliver excellent education. Through access to modern ICT resources and advanced lesson planning tools, including AI-supported educational platforms, our teachers are able to provide engaging, effective, and forward-looking learning experiences.

At the heart of our schools is a distinctively Christian vision of education. We seek to build a true community marked by grace, respect, and service. Christian education is not simply about adding Bible lessons to the timetable—it is about shaping the whole person. We believe education should transform the mind, shape the heart, and inspire students to serve God and others with compassion, integrity, and courage.

Our schools are highly respected within the local community and maintain a strong, positive relationship with the county education department. Parents trust us not only to educate their children academically, but to help them grow into confident, capable, and principled young people who can contribute positively to their families, their communities, and their nation.

Through education, nutrition, spiritual formation, and strong relationships, we are helping to break cycles of poverty and build a foundation for lasting transformation in Kosele.

Empowering our teachers

A great school requires great teachers. our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program for teachers and staff is widely recognised in our area. We are committed to forward thinking and innovative teaching, including enabling our teachers to use AI tools to enhance lesson planning and classroom delivery.

IT Tools

Thanks to very generous donations from a fund raising activity in the UK our students have been blessed with a fully equipped computer room, allowing students to access our customised learning resources. We don’t think computers will ever replace teachers but they are a very powerful tool for learning and preparing our young people for the future.

Creative and Talented

Our students are encouraged to develop their creative skills as part of the school curriculum. As you can see we have some gifted model makers and designers. This model farm was made by a group of students in Grade 9 and was submitted as part of their final assessment for their Art and Creative lessons.

Please consider sponsoring a child's future

As Christians, we believe every child is created in the image of God, with unique gifts and a purpose. Education helps reveal that purpose. It equips young people not only with knowledge, but with character, confidence, and the ability to serve others.

Franklin D Roosevelt is credited with saying “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.” Hope and Kindness takes the responsibility for building up our young people and equipping them for the future very seriously. Please help us to help them.

“You probably couldn’t imagine the difference that our school makes to us. It’s more than just a school. It’s a community that I am part of – a family that I am growing up in. We all have dreams for our future. Please can you help to make our dreams come true?”

Please support our work in Kenya. ALL donations make a huge difference.
