My role at Hope and Kindness is multi-faceted and covers a number of responsibilities. I serve as the manager and leader of the management team. It is my job to oversee the organization’s accounts and safeguarding all of the properties and assets entrusted to us. This ensures that we are fully compliant with Kenyan Government requirements and that we are good stewards of Hope and Kindness resources.
I also serve as one of the leaders of our church. We are part of Elim Gospel Church Kenya. My role as a church leader deepens my connection to the community and strengthens my commitment to walking with these families in both spiritual and practical ways.
On a personal level Hope and Kindness has shaped the entire trajectory of my life, because I was once on of those vulnerable children. My parents were too poor to send me to secondary school and it was only through reaching out to Terry and Judi that I was given the opportunity to return to secondary school and later to pursue college and university level education. Judi and Terry, together with friends of Hope and Kindness have walked alongside me as mentors, nurturing me in leadership and constantly reminding me “What would Jesus do?” This is especially vital as we lead this faith-based organisation through the many challenges that come with serving such a vulnerable community.
Within our local community Hope and Kindness brings hope and dignity to the most vulnerable – providing education and two meals a day to the whole school. Food assistance is given to some of the most needy and elderly families as well as health insurance support in some cases. New homes have been built for some of the neediest families in our community.
None of this would be possible without the loyal support of our supporters, sponsors and trustees to whom we extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude for standing with us and making all of this life-transforming work possible.
